Rickshaws and bikes and cows OH MY!

Driving in Hyderabad is oh so interesting! There are no rules and everyone goes everywhere and in every direction. Most people ride their bikes (without helmets) and usually people are sitting leisurely on the back of the bike catching a ride. Coming home from dinner tonight there was a guy driving and his wife was sidesaddled holding her little baby. The other day I saw 4 people on one bike! A son in front, maybe 5 years old followed by the dad driving and then a tiny baby maybe 3 months old pushed against her mom. And the things they can carry with them while biking..luggage, crock pots, amps! Who needs a car or a truck when you can just carry it on your bike. And the cows or were they water buffalo?! Driving home from work the other night, we encountered cows walking on the road. It was very exciting and made me realize I am no longer in San Francisco. And the people! It's as if the people think they are cars too! People are always on the road, crossing the road, on the side of the road! Who knows where they come from, but there always seems to be people right in front of you! Driving has definitely been entertaining and I always look forward to the next outing to see what I'll come across on the streets of Hyderabad.

  1. You're cracking us up Abby. All day long, we didn't see any cows on the road. Seems a bit boring compared to your streets. We walked to church on the beach then to the craft fair. Followed that with a relaxing day at the beach. After watching sunset, we are planning to walk to Leilani's maybe for fish tacos. Love you, Mum and Dad.
